Writing a memory people recognise

A short guide to writing the kind of post that the other person actually recognises as theirs.

Write it like you would tell a friend

Start with where you were. Then when. Then the one detail you have never forgotten.

A simple structure

  • Where — the venue, corner, platform, beach.
  • When — a season and a year is enough.
  • What happened — three sentences, no more.
  • The detail — the thing only they would know.

Leave something out

Keep one detail back. When someone answers, that held-back detail is how you both know.

If it made you think of someone, send it to them.

Someone out there remembers you too.

Free to post, always. 16+ only.
